What is NHS continuing healthcare?

NHS continuing healthcare is a package of care for people who are assessed as having significant ongoing healthcare needs. It is arranged and funded by the NHS.

• If you receive care in your own home the NHS covers the cost of the support you need from health professionals and the cost of personal care which can include help with washing and getting dressed.
• If you receive NHS continuing healthcare in a care home the NHS pays your care home fees.

My background picture is a tranquil view of Grasmere taken last September. Two thoughts, will climate change destroy this beautiful environment and secondly please do not allow the Lowther Estate to permit up to ten boats to be moored on the lake as holiday accommodation. The plan is for 40ft long boats to navigate the lake and moor each evening wherever they choose. There is a Facebook page “Houseboats off Grasmere”

I have recently learned that even people in a nursing home can apply for all fees to be paid by the health authority. We are setting off on the application trail for the benefit of my mother who has had a stroke. The scheme is not well publicised and is complex. We are at stage three and I will recap the story so far in my next blog.
